Consent Information

If you create an account, Equine Register Canada Limited (“Equine”) may collect from you your full name, home address, email address, telephone number, date of birth, account password, and information about equines that you own and/or register. Equine will also generate your user identification code. If you enrol for Digital Stable Plus, a third-party payment processor may also collect your credit card information and billing address, and, by clicking “Create Account” below, you consent to the payment processor generating and communicating to Equine confirmation of your transaction (including the transaction code and the value of the transaction).

Equine will collect and use this information to allow you to create and manage your account; verify your name, address and age; deliver and send you notifications and updates about the services that you use, including disease outbreak alerts; provide customer service; process and renew your subscription, apply relevant discount codes or coupons and collect payment (if applicable); protect Equine’s operating systems and other users; monitor compliance with and enforce Equine’s Terms of Website Use & Data Services and other policies and contracts; comply with Equine’s legal obligations; and for such other purposes as are permitted or required by applicable law.

Equine may share your information with third party service providers, including providers of messaging, payment processing, customer support and address lookup services, and may disclose your personal information where you consent or instruct us to do so (including, if you enrol for Digital Stable Plus, via the Connected People feature), or where disclosure is otherwise permitted by applicable law. Equine may also disclose your information in order to comply with applicable law, regulations and government requests (including organisations with statutory, welfare and biosecurity responsibilities), who may use this information in furtherance of potential litigation, criminal investigation, regulatory action, or otherwise in connection with legal matters which may have adverse impacts on you. Personal information held by a government or other public sector institution could be subject to a freedom of information request pursuant to public sector privacy laws.

Equine’s third-party service providers may process or store your personal information outside of Canada (including communicating your personal information outside of Quebec, where applicable). Personal information that is processed outside of Canada may be accessible to foreign courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.

You may contact Equine’s Data Protection Manager by mail to Equine Register Canada Ltd., 135 Laurier Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, K1P 5J2, or by email to privacy@equineregister.ca , to (i) obtain written information about Equine’s policies and practices with respect to service providers outside Canada; (ii) ask questions about the collection, use, disclosure or storage of personal information by service providers outside Canada for or on Equine’s behalf; (iii) exercise any rights you have under applicable legislation (subject to required and permitted exceptions under applicable law), which may include the right to access or rectify your personal information and/or withdraw consent to Equine’s continued collection, use or disclosure of your personal information; or (iv) ask a question or register a complaint about Equine’s collection, use or disclosure of your personal information.

Optional Marketing Consent.

In ticking the consent box I understand that, I consent to my full name and email address being used by Equine Register Canada Limited (“Equine”) to send me marketing emails, including newsletters, special offers (such as vouchers, discount codes or coupons), and information about new services and offerings, subscription options and carefully selected third party services.

I understand and agree that, if I open such emails and/or interact with any content or advertisements in such emails, Equine may also collect information about me using cookies (which are activated when the email is opened), including my user identification code, the campaign ID, the content I opened/viewed and the time I interacted with such content, which Equine may use to track and record that I have opened the email (and any response to the email) and/or interacted with its content, assess the effectiveness of Equine’s marketing efforts, and inform the type of features and content I am shown in the future.
